LOCKPORT – The attorney for Lockport auto repair shop owner David J. Mongielo said Monday he is trying to arrange a combination plea bargain that would settle Mongielo’s sign ordinance violation cases in the Town of Lockport and the resisting arrest and other counts he picked up after a June 27 traffic stop in the City of Lockport.
Frank T. Housh said after a City Court appearance Monday that he wants “a global settlement everybody can live with.”
He said he intends to confer with the District Attorney’s Office in the city matter and the town prosecutor, Bradley D. Marble, in the sign case.
“Both prosecutors realize that if there’s a plea in one place, it affects the other place,” Housh said. “I’ve asked for a non-criminal resolution in the city case. It hasn’t been accepted, but it hasn’t been rejected.”
Mongielo is scheudled to be sentenced Jan. 7 in the first of two sign ordinance cases in the town, while he is due to return to City Court Jan. 13.
