LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls woman who stole $711 worth of property in March 2013 from a Town of Lockport woman she was serving as a home care aide, was sentenced Wednesday to two years in Niagara County Jail.

County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas said she learned in a presentencing report that Gina M. Kiesinger, 23, of Monroe Avenue, had been heard on a tapped phone in the Niagara County Jail telling someone that she was faking mental illness in an effort to stay out of prison. The judge also said Kiesinger had been dropped from a mental health program because she didn’t have mental health issues.

Kiesinger insisted she had been diagnosed with mental illnesses “on and off” since age 15.

The sentence included time for a probation violation on a 2008 conviction for attempted third-degree robbery in Erie County.
