LOCKPORT – A North Tonawanda man, who pleaded guilty in April to his seventh alcohol-related driving charge, was sentenced Monday to two years in the Niagara County Jail by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr.
Daniel S. Couturiaux, 42, of Deerfield Drive, had admitted to felony driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, stemming from a Nov. 17 traffic stop in Wheatfield. Kloch, who also imposed $1,595 in fines and fees, read Couturiaux’ rap sheet aloud in court; it included six DWIs, one impaired driving conviction and three unlicensed driving convictions, dating back to 1994.
“It’s an abysmal record of driving while intoxicated,” Kloch told the defendant. “You don’t care about the rest of us.”
In another sentencing by Kloch, Mark A. Smith, 27, of Grove Avenue, Niagara Falls, drew five years’ probation for fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. He allegedly sold cocaine in the Falls May 23, 2012.
