LOCKPORT – A man charged with two burglaries in Niagara Falls last year was sentenced to five years in prison Wednesday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.

Joseph C. Knepp. 48, of Sixth Street in the Falls, had pleaded guilty Feb. 26 to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree burglary. Farkas ordered him to pay $1,370.92 in restitution to the homeowners, and Assistant District Attorney Lisa M. Baehre said Knepp is expected to cooperate with police in closing other burglary cases.

Knepp was charged with breaking into houses April 13, 2013, on Ninth Street and May 10, 2013, on 25th Street. A DNA test on blood left behind at the latter scene tied Knepp to that crime, prosecutors said.
