Wetlands concerns delay Lockport business incubator

LOCKPORT – A plan for a multi-tenant business incubator building in the Town of Lockport industrial park, first proposed two years ago, is being delayed by wetlands issues, Industrial Development Agency CEO David R. Kinyon said.

McGuire Development Co. of Buffalo, which proposed the incubator, told Kinyon that its revised site plan needed approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers because of its proximity to federal wetlands. The company said that new site has been submitted to the Corps.

On another lagging project, IDA counsel Daniel E. Seaman told the IDA board Thursday that Bison Bag Co., whose $30,000 purchase of 1.5 acres in the industrial park for a $2 million plant expansion was approved three months ago, is likely to close on the purchase by the end of May. The IDA board has not yet scheduled a public hearing on an expected request for a 15-year property tax abatement for the company.
