LOCKPORT – Milling of pavement on Summit Street, Lincoln Avenue and Pine Street has been completed, Mayor Anne E. McCaffrey said Tuesday.

In the city’s continuing effort to grind away pothole-strewn asphalt on some of the city’s busiest streets, the milling machine will dig three inches deep today on Willow and Locust streets, McCaffrey said.

Previously, it had been decided that the machine from Villager Construction of Fairport would go only two inches deep to save money, but McCaffrey said the city and the contractor agreed that Willow and Locust needed more aggressive treatment.

The city will repave the milled streets itself in the next few weeks. The work of resurfacing parts of nine streets will cost about $500,000.
