WHEATFIELD – The town Planning Board granted conditional approval Wednesday to a proposal from Driftwood Suites, 2754 Niagara Falls Blvd., to build five new 1,100-square-foot townhouses.

Board secretary Melissa Germann said the conditions include a requirement that the work be done by Oct, 1; that the town must receive a letter from the motel’s mortgage holder approving the subdivision of the property; that a new boundary survey must be handed in; and that the town must receive a color drawing of the project before it’s built.

Monday, Kristin L. Savard of Advanced Design Group told the Niagara County Planning Board that the five new units cannot be sold as condominiums in the future because of the town building code and the type of structure to be erected. She said a subdivision was needed to obtain bank financing for the project.

Savard said Driftwood wanted to offer the units, each of which will have three bedrooms, because of customer demand from families for suites with more than one bedroom.
