MIDDLEPORT – The Middleport Fire Company will donate its reserve fire engine to a volunteer fire company in Middleport, Pa., this Saturday.

Company vice president Darren Burdick said the 1985 Spartan/Young fire engine will be driven to Citizens Fire Company No. 1 in the southeastern Pennsylvania town. Burdick said the Niagara County fire company bought a new fire engine about a year ago, bring its fleet to four engines and two other vehicles, so it can spare the 1985 model.

Citizens will send a crew here to be trained on use of the vehicle Saturday, after a public open house from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Main Street fire hall. The donated truck will become the Middleport, Pa., company’s primary responding truck. Its only other truck is a 1970s model that was donated by another fire company, Burdick said.
