NIAGARA FALLS – The Niagara Falls Housing Authority is revamping its community outreach efforts.
The organization has relaunched its quarterly magazine and is planning some upgrades to its cable television show.
It also has created a more active presence on its Facebook page.
“Providing our residents with continual information that will help inspire, motivate and connect them to quality-of-life resources such as employment and educational opportunities are a key part of our commitment,” Stephanie W. Cowart, the authority’s executive director, said in a written statement.
Much of the work comes as a result of the hiring of a public relations firm earlier this year.
The magazine, called the Niagara Carrier, will include profiles of residents and provide information about programs, services and community events.
Each issue is printed and distributed to residents and community partners, and it will be available online.
Anyone interested in suggesting a story idea for the magazine should call Kelly Mariano at 285-6961.
“People and Possibilities,” the authority’s television show on the Our Schools Channel, Time Warner Cable Channel 21, will be getting a new look this year, said authority spokeswoman Jennifer J. Parker, whose firm, Jackson Parker Communications, was hired in July.
Parker said she is working to update the look and the editorial content this year, including additional video footage and expanding outreach to area experts and resources to be guests on the show.
“We plan to also integrate new visuals and content to reach a diverse audience. We will integrate Facebook and the website in an effort to encourage more interaction with residents and the community,” she said.
The Facebook page will be used to send out information as well, Parker said.
The one-hour show, which is taped every other week in collaboration with students at Niagara Falls High School, airs 10 times a week.
The authority has about 800 apartments and 1,500 low-income residents at five properties.
