LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man who fled in handcuffs from the courtroom of State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. on June 27 pleaded guilty Thursday to injuring an officer who took part in the ensuing one-block chase.
Tarale T. Haugabook, 21, of Welch Avenue, accepted a plea deal that will send him to prison for four to eight years. He admitted to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree assault for the injury to court officer John Rogers.
Haugabook fled after Kloch ordered him jailed following his guilty plea to third-degree burglary for a Feb. 1 break-in in the Falls, and an admission to violating his probation on a 2011 conviction for attempted second-degree robbery.
Kloch will impose sentences in all three cases Feb. 13, but the terms were agreed upon Thursday by Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell and defense attorney James J. Faso Jr.
