LOCKPORT – A Depew woman pleaded guilty Tuesday in Niagara County Court to stealing more than $16,000 this spring from a Pendleton man she knew.

Tammy A. Elliott, 41, of Transit Road, admitted to a reduced charge of fourth-degree grand larceny and was assigned by County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment.

Elliott, a second-time felon who served time in the state prison system’s secure drug treatment facility seven years ago after a forgery conviction in Erie County, used the victim’s personal information to open credit card, cellphone and other accounts, Assistant District Attorney John P. Granchelli said. Elliott owes $16,125 in restitution for the thefts between March 10 and June 30, and already has paid $700 back.

Elliott faces up to four years in prison if she fails in the diversion program, but her charge would be reduced to a misdemeanor with a probation sentence if she succeeds.
