LOCKPORT – Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas dismissed the case of a Wheatfield man Tuesday after he succeeded in the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment.
Hassan K. Ford, 49, of Plaza Drive, had pleaded guilty in April 2013 to fourth-degree grand larceny for stealing 32 bottles of cologne from The Summit, a Wheatfield mall, on Feb. 21, 2013.
Farkas could have reduced Ford’s charge to a misdemeanor and placed him on probation, but she decided he had done so well in diversion that the case should be thrown out.
“You have totally earned it,” the judge told Ford, who wept with joy.
