LOCKPORT – A Lockport woman who has two previous misdemeanor driving while intoxicated convictions was arraigned Monday on a felony indictment for her latest arrest.

Amy L. New, 47, of Nicholls Street, pleaded not guilty to aggravated and felony DWI and a lane violation. Her blood alcohol content was measured at 0.21 percent when she was arrested in the City of Lockport May 31.

New’s charge is a Class D felony, which carries a maximum seven-year jail term upon conviction, because of the prior convictions. New served six months in jail after failing to stop drinking when she was placed on probation after a 2009 DWI conviction.

Monday, Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III allowed her to remain free on $1,000 bail. New said she’d been fired from her job after the latest arrest.
