It may not be raining where you are right now, but it’s out there.
“It’s here, there and everywhere else,” meteorologist Dave Zaff of the National Weather Service in Buffalo said this morning.
One wave of rain moved through the metro area at about 4 a.m., then the Southtowns got a pretty good dose about two hours later, he noted.
“There’s more upstream and there will be more developing this afternoon, as well,” said Zaff. “There are showers all around us right now.”
“You have a better chance in the afternoon hours and toward the evening,” Zaff explained. “That’s typically when you have the most heating during the day from the sun.”
When all is said and done, some areas may get more than an inch of rain during the next 24 hours.
But it’s difficult to say where that amount will fall.
“It’s going to vary from location to location,” Zaff said.
Meanwhile, it’s going to be a muggy day, with temperatures rising into the lower 80s and the relative humidity hovering between 50 and 60 percent. Don’t look for relief tonight; low temperatures will be around 70.
A cold front will move through Wednesday, Zaff said, drying out the atmosphere and resulting in nice conditions Thursday and possibly Friday. High temperatures will be in the 70s, rather than the 80s, he said.
