NIAGARA FALLS – The Health Association of Niagara County Inc. presented seven awards at its annual meeting and luncheon June 12 at Niagara Falls County Club.

The emotional high point of the luncheon was the presentation of the Karen Albond Courage in Caring Award, presented annually to an individual who perseveres in service to others despite a disability. It was awarded to Candace Butcher, who despite her diagnosis of cerebral palsy, has gone above and beyond the call of duty while working for Niagara Cerebral Palsy for the past 12 years. She was nominated for her ability to provide the best care possible to families she works with despite her own challenges.

Niagara County Head Start received the Outstanding Partner Award for its partnership with the HANCI Foster Grandparent Program.

Also honored, posthumously, was Glenda Reardon who was given the Chris Richbart Heart of HANCI Award for her commitment to the health and well-being of the Niagara Community. The Outstanding Sponsor Award was given to SynchroNet, for support of HANCI and the Greater Niagara community.

The Chairperson’s Award for Distinguished Service was presented to Robert Kazeangin Jr., a HANCI board member honored for his dedication to the mission of HANCI. A special recognition award was presented to Harold Brown and William Williamson, also for dedication to HANCI.
