WILSON – The Wilson Village Board has set Aug. 26 for a vote on the proposed dissolution of the village.
The vote was initiated by a group of residents who collected 180 signatures last month and presented the petition to the Village Board, which, under state law, is required to hold a referendum.
Once the vote takes place, the state will help pay for an independent feasibility study and also award money to help implement the plan, according to Mayor Bernard “Bernie” Leiker. He added that if the public does not accept the dissolution plan, it may force a second vote by petition.
