NEWFANE – A North Tonawanda man told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that he was beaten in the face by a man wearing large metal rings on his fingers. He said he was blinded in his right eye for about five minutes after the beating, which happened at 1:46 p.m. Tuesday in the 2600 block of Grace Avenue.
Nicholas L. Holzman, 33, of Althea Avenue, Olcott, left the scene before deputies arrived, but later turned himself in on a warrant and was charged with assault with intent to cause physical injury. An order of protection was issued.
The 28-year-old victim said he was watching TV with a girl when her ex-boyfriend, Holzman, walked into the house and began punching him in the face and head. He said he was dragged to the ground and punched several more times. The girl said she yelled for Holzman to stop and said he left when she called police.
The victim was taken by Miller Hose Company to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane for treatment of cuts and bruises.
