LOCKPORT – Rosemary Bernard, librarian at the Royalton-Hartland Community Library in Middleport, has been named the winner of the 2014 Key to the Locks award, presented annually by the Erie Canal Discovery Center to a local citizen who exemplifies the spirit and heritage of the Erie Canal.
Bernard has set up many programs on canal history for children and adults alike, and has obtained grants to bring such programs to her library.
The ninth annual award will be presented in a program scheduled for 11 a.m. May 10 in the Discovery Center, Church and Ontario streets, Lockport.
