NIAGARA FALLS – Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has received a quality achievement award for implementing specific measures outlined by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association for the treatment of stroke patients.
The associations’ “Get With the Guidelines” package helps hospital teams provide the most up-to-date, research-based care with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing death and disability for stroke patients. Those measures include aggressive use of medications and risk-reduction therapies.
According to the associations, stroke is the fourth-highest cause of death and a leading cause of adult disability in the United States.
