LOCKPORT – A former employee of Papa Leo’s pizzeria in Wheatfield admitted Wednesday that he burglarized the business Nov. 5, 2012.

Ian F. Treichler, 33, of Minnick Road, Lockport, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree burglary and was admitted to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.

Treichler risks a seven-year prison term if he flunks out of the two-year treatment program, but his charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor with a probation sentence if he succeeds.

Treichler was charged with breaking a window at the Niagara Road location and stealing some money from a cash box. He was connected to the crime by a DNA sample and wasn’t arrested until Oct. 8, 2013. Prosecutors asked for $464 in restitution.
