GASPORT – The owner of the Cup and Saucer Family Restaurant was a victim of a break-in overnight Tuesday. Both cash and a chocolate pie were reported stolen from the restaurant at 7790 Ridge Road.
Owner Dana L. Rising alerted Niagara County sheriff’s deputies after he drove by the restaurant at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and saw the drapes dangling out of an open window. When he stopped to check he found the front door unlocked and a window mounted air conditioner pushed in.
A search with deputies found the cash register, which had contained $70, empty. A chocolate pie had also been removed from the cooler, but the thief appeared to have opted for a cash only getaway, leaving behind the pie which was found in front of the business in the parking lot.
