LOCKPORT – A Lockport man was charged with first-degree assault today for his role in an early Saturday morning stabbing outside of Lock 34 on Main Street.
Lamont Washington, 25, of Cottage Street was arraigned on charges of first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon in Lockport City Court. He was remanded to Niagara County Jail and held without bail.
Police were called to the scene of a bar fight at 2 a.m. Saturday and found three men had been injured, including Washington, who was treated and released later Saturday from Erie County Medical Center after recovering from his wounds.
Another victim was also treated and released from ECMC Saturday, while a second victim is still recovering from his injuries in the hospital.
The Lockport Detective Bureau has not released any names of the victims or details on what led to the fight.
According to a previous report one of the victims was airlifted to ECMC for treatment of stab wounds, while a second was bleeding heavily and taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport before being transferred to ECMC.
A third man had left the scene before officers arrived and was found at a nearby home. He was also taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital before being transferred to ECMC.
