Niagara County Health Dept. sets chronic disease classes

LOCKPORT – The Niagara County Health Department and the county Office for the Aging are offering free six-week classes in managing chronic disease, beginning this week.

One class begins Tuesday in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church hall, 2239 West Creek Road, Burt; the other starts Thursday in the John A. Duke Senior Center, 2012 Hyde Park Blvd. Niagara Falls.

Both are series of six classes that run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. They are designed to assist people age 60 and older who have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, or another chronic condition. The goal is to help those patients maintain an active lifestyle and feel better. Their caregivers also are welcome to attend.

Prospective participants may register for the course by calling 438-3030 or 278-1900.
